How can I stop payroll deductions for my debt that has been adjusted or cancelled?

Question

I received notification that my Out of Service debt has been adjusted or canceled, but my payroll is still being garnished. What can I do to stop these payroll deductions for my debt?

Answer

If you received notification from Out of Service Debt and Claims that your debt was adjusted or canceled, we will notify your finance office and request your military pay account be adjusted on your behalf. Please allow processing time of 60 days for your finance office to adjust your account and stop the garnishment(s). Funds that are collected in excess of your debt amount will be refunded to you.

If your pay continues to be garnished and the 60 day processing period has lapsed, you may submit an inquiry through the AskDFAS Miscellaneous Form below.
