Can I make monthly payments on my debt?

Question

Can I make monthly payments on my debt?

Answer

You may elect to make monthly payments on your debt. Generally, accounts must be repaid in full within 36 months of our initial notice, with a minimum monthly payment of $50. For example, if the original debt amount is less than $1,800, the minimum monthly payment amount is $50. If the original debt amount is greater than $1,800, the required monthly payment amount will be greater than $50 and reflected on your monthly account/billing statement. A Voluntary Repayment Agreement (VRA) and Financial Hardship Application (FHA) is required for all monthly installment agreements. To ensure timely review and consideration of your request, be sure to carefully read the instructions for submission. Please note that you will need to begin making your requested monthly installment payment while your application is under review.

You may submit your application to our office through the AskDFAS Payment Plan Ticket.
