Can my debt be collected from my active duty or reserve/guard pay?

Question

I would like my out of service debt collected from my active duty or reserve/guard pay. Can your office send the debt to my finance, accounting, or disbursing office for collection?

Answer

Out of Service Debt can send your debt to your Army, Air Force or Navy active duty or reserve/guard pay. If you would like to use this method for collection of your debt, please contact our office through the AskDFAS Miscellaneous Form. Collection will be accomplished in accordance with Title 37 U.S.C. 1007c. You should be aware that your finance office can take up to 15% your disposable pay. Once the debt is submitted to your finance office, Out of Service Debt no longer has authority over the rate of collection for your debt.
