Percents needed to qualify for CRSC

Question

I don't have a Purple Heart but I have a VA disability rating of 60 percent, of which, only 30 percent is combat-related. Do I qualify for Combat Related Special Compensation (CRSC)?

Answer

Your Branch of Service determines your eligibility for Combat Related Special Compensation (CRSC). Section 642 of the 2004 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) extended CRSC eligibility from 60 percent down to a minimum 10 percent combat-related disability, and a Purple Heart decoration is no longer a criteria.

Your eligibility for CRSC depends on the effective dates and percentages for codes found in your Award Letter that your Branch of Service provides.
